Samuel Marti et Cie were well known clock makers inParis in the mid eighteenth century. In 1860 it's known that their premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with two other well known clock maker's Roux, and Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements. The Medaille de Bronze stamp refers to the period 1867 – 1900. This is a French antique that you would normally see in a museum. This piece would been only found in the homes of the richest of European society. It is made of cast bronze, black slate dial, ruby pallet jewel escapement pins, with the finest French manufactured Marti movement. The movement has been cleaned (2014) and works beautifully. As is typical of this clock, the movement speed adjustment is accomplished on the pendulum and on the front face. The comes with original pendulum and key. This is a rare chance for someone to own a precious piece of history (115 years old) in unbelievable condition. Measurements: 20" tall x 10" wide x 8" deep, 5 1/2" dia. dial face, 8" x 8" base.
