It is 4.5 ins. tall, on the sustantial side in weight of brass at 175 grms., in good conition, parftly cleaned up, no damage. The Lincoln Imp is the symbol of the City of Lincoln, the county town of Lincolnshire. One of the best known , and smallest scuptures in the Angel Choir at the Cathedral is the LINCOLN IMP. Satan sent the Imp to Lincoln Cathedral, to cause trouble; the Imp was destroying the Angel Choir, then an Angel appeared, but the Imp jumped on to a pillar , and started throwing stones at the Angel, whereupon the Angel turned the Imp to stone, where he still stands today. A lovely story for the symbol of the City of Lincoln. He is rather well preserved, and not facially worn, as one usually finds them. To the reverse is the remains of an old Registed No., just faintly seen as Rd., so I am pretty sure , it must be Victorian , c1900. Either as a collectable or used as an actual door kocker for your home, it will be of great interest. ( THERE ARE'NT MANY ABOUT) Nevertheless, your Imp, is there to be sold, as with all my other items, startinng at 99p, without reserve.
