Two Framed Lil Moses Comics Pore Lil Moses He takes a rideon the car Pore Lil Moses He comes to NewYork The prints measure 14.25 x 10.5 each The frames measure 22.5 X 18.5 each The frames have a beautiful silver finish and come with black double mats and glass.These appear to be originals. The paper appears old and there is no numbering indicating reproductions. On the backs of both prints there are some very light child's pencil drawings. The drawings do not bleed through or affect the front of the comics. History's first black comic strip, R.F. Outcault's "Pore Lil' Mose" was the lead comic strip in the Sunday color supplement of The New York Herald newspaper from December 1900 until August 1902, during the Platinum Age of Comics (1897 - 1937). Outcault is universally considered the father of the modern comic strip, with his creation of The Yellow Kid in 1895. He is probably best known today for his Buster Brown comic, which was based on his own young son and family dog, Tige.Pore Lil' Mose, a brilliant and pioneering piece of comic art, has elements that would be considered politically incorrrect today, but many more portrayals of fascinating and entertaining complexity.
