Antique 1910 Kestner 260 Character Head Doll w/ Original Toddler Body Scroll down for larger views From an estate, this is an antique Kestner character head doll. Head Marked: Made in Germany JDK 260 48/51. Body Marked: Made in Germany 51. The doll stands 20'' high with a fully jointed wood & composition toddler body. This doll is fairly rare, and the toddler bodies are more sought after than the baby bodies. The head is a bisque socket type with an 11 1/2'' circumference. The coloring is excellent with just a few random specks here & there. The doll has big blue glass sleep eyes, lashes painted above & below the eyes, feathered brows, red eye & nostril dots, an open mouth w/ molded tongue & 4 baby teeth, rosy cheeks, and a dimpled chin. There is an eye chip below the left eye (see photo). Otherwise the head is excellent The body is nice with all parts present. It could use some cleaning, and has some wear here & there. All ten fingers are intact with red lines around the finger nails. Nine toes are also fine. The big toe on the left side has 1'' of paint loss across the toe and along the side of the foot. Also a 3/4'' piece near the right knee joint has missing paint. Overall the body is in very good, original condition. Stringing is also a little loose.
