ANTIQUE 19C CHINESE APPLE JADE JADEITE FIGURE SHOU LAO This is one of a number of fine antique Chinese jades that I am listing this week so please have a look at my other items. This is a fine antique, late 19th Century, carved apple green jadeite Shou Lao figure (it should be quite clear from the photos that this is a genuine jade but just to reaffirm this, it cannot be scratched). It has a really good colour with plenty of apple green splashes in the carving. The carving itself is deceptively effective and not quite as simplistic as it would first appear. The original stand has been carved to fit this particular carving (indeed it could fit no other quite as well as t has been a space carved in the stand for the staff of the Shou Lao - see photos) It has a fine polish and the feeling that it has been well handled. It is offered at a very reasonable start price and with no reserve so good luck with the bidding! Condition & Dimensions Excellent overall condition. No serious damage to the figure, light wear only. The stand has had a broken leg at one stage but this has been repaired and can hardly be noticed.
