antique 19C Porcelain FAIRING KING CHARLES SPANIEL Dogs Description An outstanding pair of hand painted King Charles spaniels makes this 19C Victorian porcelain fairing figurine special . The pair have such expressive articulation & an almost solemn demeanor, very soulful (at least to my eye). They have an urn shaped match holder tied to their back with pink ribbon tied front & back. The only marking on this fairing is an incised (scratched) 1149 (I think) and a separate 131 (again they are not easy to read). I don't know if this is a Conta Boehme German piece as most were or if perhaps it is an early English piece; if you have access to one of the Fairing books you may be able to find it. Measures approx. 3-1/4" l. x 2-3/4" w. x 3" t. T is an old bottom edge chip on the dark dog's side (see pic) & a shallow old small chip on the inside rim of match holder-same side. Otherwise figurine is in excellent condition with no other chips, no cracks or repairs. Slight color rub on both outer ears at top. No evidence of any gold ever being around base. I have another fairing figurine from the same estate ending a day before this one, will combine shipping if you end up buying both. See my other listings for the "Pluck" fairing I listed. Insurance & delivery confirmation included in shipping. OFFERED WITH NO RESERVE. View my feedback read more
