Tinted Ambrotype Gentleman Victorian Dickensian Photograph Antique 19th Century This is an unusual Victorian ambrotype, which has been faintly tinted with colouring. Its subject is a middle aged Gentleman in smart dress. He looks professional - and also slightly bohemian with his long beard - like the Romantic poets. If you look closely you will see that there is some tiny handpainted embelishment to his waistjacket buttons. It is a particularly charming piece - the studio print to the back reading: "Of those for who we fond emotion cherish, Secure the shadow ere the substance perish" It measures 16cm by 13cm. The piece is in good condition with no breakages - there is some minor wear to the frame i.e. rubs and marks. Whilst I feel I hav e set a fair price for this piece based on its quality and condition, I am more than open to reasonable offers as I would love for it to find a nice new home.
