ANTIQUE HAND WOVEN NARROW ASH SPLINT "BUTTOCKS" GATHERING BASKET. THE BASKET IS FROM NEW ENGLAND WHERE IT HAD BEEN USED AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY FOR GATHERING EGGS, HERBS, NUTS AND SMALL FRUITS AND GARDEN VEGETABLES. THIS IS A WONDERFUL SMALL BUTTOCKS BASKET WHICH I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED FROM A DEALER MANY YEARS AGO BECAUSE OF ITS HARD TO FIND SMALL SIZE, NARROW SPLINT, TIGHT WEAVE, FINELY HEWN NARROW BENTWOOD HANDLE AND EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION.SIZE: Small with 7-1/2" x 6-1/2" Rim x 3-1/4" from the Base of Either Buttocks to the Rim and Another 3-3/4" to the Top of the Uniformly Curved 1/2" Wide Bentwood Handle.
