Antique 19th Century Painted Gameboard Box Open: 15 3/4" x 13 1/2" x 1 1/4" Closed: 15 3/4" x 6 5/8" x 2 3/8" Weight: 1 lb. - 13 oz. 7 Day No Reserve Auction American 19th century; Ca: 1860, hand painted gameboard box in original paint. Checkers game on outside panels and backgammon game on inside of box. Gameboard is made of pine and some of the knotholes show through the thin mustard paint. There are eight stencilled gold flowers on the checker board margins. Please refer to the photos as they serve as part of the description. There are worn places around the edges and paint chips in those areas as well. The gameboard box is in good condition especially when you consider it's age. Square head cut nails were used which is consistent with 19th century construction. I purchased this over 25 years ago from Garth's Auctions. We are downsizing and the gameboard needs to find a new home. Please send me an email if you have questions. Thank you for looking.
