Antique Late 19thC End of Day Sea Foam Green and Black Sprial Blown Glass Walking Stick Parade Cane In the late 19thC glassmakers ended their work day creating a variety of objects from the leftover materials used for making other glasswares. Master craftsmen were allowed to "play" with glass on their own time and create objects for their on use, enjoyment or to improve their skills. These "end of the day" creations demonstrated their great skill and control over molten glass. Given their fragile nature canes were rarely used for walking although they were occasionally used ceremonially in parades. Glass canese were rarely documented to their maker. We recently acquired a nice collection of these blown glass walking stick parade canes that we will be listing. These are from the same collection that we sold on Ebay a month ago. Up for bids is this antique late 19thC End of the Day Sea Foam Green and Black Spiral blown glass walking stick parade cane. The color of glass is ice blue. The cane measures 36 1/2" high and is 1" at it's widest and it's bottom is 7/8". The cane has a spiral groove running throughout the cane down to the bottom. This cane is heavier than any of the other parade canes we have seen and we believe that it was made a bit earlier than the others and was able to be used as a walking stick due to the thickness read more
