My hobby is restoring and collecting levels and 95% of my Ebay transactions are buying or selling levels. You can see by my 1000 plus feedbacks that I am an honest Ebayer. I have been involved with this hobby for over 12 years and consider myself very knowledgeable trader in regard to levels. This auction is for “ M. M. CHAPIN ” level Made in “ PINE MEADOW CONN. ” This logo is stamped in the wood next to the top level place. The only information that I could find that resembles this level is on page 184 in Don Rosebrook ’s book, “ American Levels and Their Makers ”. The level measures 24 - inches long by 3 - inches high by 1 & 1/4– inch wide. The wood is a very nice piece of Mahogany and t are NO cracks and just a few very minor nicks in the wood. The brass rails, end plates and vial cover plates are all in very good condition. The level vial could be original but it appears the plumb vial has been replaced by a previous owner.
