Beautiful antique hand-stitched quilt, measuring 75" x 60". This impeccable find is one-of-a-kind and comes from a non-smoking home. I'm not sure what the exact pattern or age is. I believe it is some sort of eight-point star pattern, possibly considered featd, at least on the interior of the stars. It may be a native american pattern or origin. I purchased it from an older woman who said her Seattle-based grandmother made it early in the 1900's. The quilt has vivid orange, red, and chartreuse fabric on white. The back is made of white fabric. The fabric is cottony - not shiny - but I don't know exactly what it is. It is on the thin side, with what apears to be a light inner layer of batting, or perhaps a layer of fabric. Not only is the top hand-pieced and painstakingly hand-stitched, the layers themselves are wonderfully hand-stitched toghether in intricate patterns I hope the photos will demonstrate. T are two flaws that I've found. One is some slight yellowing on an edge, and w the batting seems to have worn a little thin and you can see the color from the top coming through. Another is an apparent small stain from a liquid. I've included photographs of both of these, but the stain is hard to see in a photo, it's not very noticable. I think the stain will come out, but I don't want to try - I think it would be better off in read more
