The Aladdin Company of Bay City,Michigan was one of America's most long lived manufacturers ofmail-order, "kit homes." Begun in 1906 by two brothers, Otto and William Sovereign, the family-owned firm continued to manufacture houses until 1981. Over the firm's long history it sold over 75,000 homes to both individual and corporate customers. According to Antique Hardware Price Guide by H. Weber Wilson(page 150) these were given away by Aladdin Homes as Christmas gifts in 1926. The guide designates this doorknocker as HH-Hard to find and highly desirable. Condition is good overall. Has some tarnish but could be polished up bright. Measures 5 13/16 h x 2 1/16" w.
