You are invited to bid on this antique mug made to commemorate the end of WWI 1919.This lovely mug has been transfer printed with Britannia holding her shield and trident sitting with the symbol of the United Kingdom lion. On either side of her there is a sailor and soldier holding the Union Jack and Royal Standard flags and trench nurses. Behind her is the title ' Allies Victorious Peace ' with a swag of pretty pink roses and peace dove. Above this there are laurel wreath roundels of King George V and allie figures and flags from WWI; Beatty, Haig, George, Foch, Wilson and Hughes. On either side the HMS Victory and a WWI ship are out at sea surrounded by a swag of acorn leaves. On the back there is further flag decoration and around the rim and handle there is hand gilt highlighting. It measures approx. 3" tall by 4" across.There is a flaw on the front rim and foot of the mug, a couple of chips to the back of the mug (see 3rd photo), a couple of hairlines on the back rim (see final photo) , crazing to the glaze and slight flaw to the glaze on the inside of the mu g.
