Wonderful bronze-clad bookends depicting a Bald Eagle standing upon a colorful base adorned with stars and olive wreath. While not marked, these definitely are the work of Marion Bronze as shown in the last photograph, taken from an original Marion catalogue. In fact, these are EARLY Marion Bronze, circa 1920s maybe 1930, rather than the later versions which were marked with an MB on the backs. Condition is excellent with nothing more than a small dent on the leading edge of one bird's right (his right) wing, and a slightly mashed back corner of the base on that same piece. See pics. Otherwise, just nicks and scuffs appropriate for the age. The finish also is in excellent condition and the paint all is original, no touch-ups, and fully intact. These are big bookends, standing 8 1/2 inches tall; 6 inches wide at the spread of wings (the base slightly less wide); and 2 1/2 inches deep.
