Fine Antique American Pewter Plate, Samuel Pierce, Greenfield, MA, c. 1792 to 1830. This fine pewter plate is a very good example manufactured by a very hard to find American manufacturer. This plate has a single reeded rim with two impressed eagle marks on the back of the plate that read, "SAMUEL" above and "PIERCE", below the eagle. This is the mark of Samuel Pierce, who worked out of Greenfield, Massachusetts from 1792 to 1830. This mark can be found in "Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, page 145, where a 8" plate was valued at $45 back in 1957. This is a wonderful example of early an American pewter plate by a fine American maker. I offer this wonderful Antique American pewter plate with no reserve and a "Buy It Now".
