This auction is for an early American wall regulator made by the Ansonia Clock Company around the turn of the century. It is over 100 years old. This clock features a double spring, time-only, 8 day movement with polished silvered plates. (It actually runs for about 2 weeks, but was originally sold as an 8 day clock) It is easy to wind as both winding springs are smaller than traditional 8 day American clock springs. It has an 8 inch brass bezel with a sunken paper dial that appears to have been partially replaced many years ago. The outer numbers ring is a little lighter in color than the inner circle. Personally, I love the look of it being slightly 2 toned. The inner circle does feature a small second hand under the '12'. It has a brass covered pendulum bob with an ebony wood stick. The brass beat indicator is signed Ansonia Clock Co. It measures around 53 inches high. There are 2 finials that appear to be original and all the others are newer replacements. The replacement finials style actually match the clock case very well. If you look closely at the pictures, the 1/2 finials that are attached to the door have the same silhouette as the newer finials. In the pictures the original finials are on the top corners. There are 5 replacement finials altogether so you could use them all at one time if desired. The center, bottom finial read more
