Being offered for your consideration, with NO RESERVE , is this Antique Apothecary Pharmacy Show Jar Faux Marble Plinth Base. Typically this Egyptian Revival inspired designed pedestal base would have been used in an apothecary establishment to display a larger show jar either in a window or behind a counter. This piece was difficult to photograph as the light had quite an impact on the color in the individual photographs. The glass is most closely represented in color in the following photograph; the actual color is more red in tone than brown.It is possible that this unique pillar was marketed by S. Maw, Son, and Thompsons as they were known for offering similar faux marbleized show jars and display pillars.The pedestal itself is glass which has been hand painted on the inside of the glass in ivory and oxblood to mimic the appearance of either marble or granite. > The front side of the pedestal plinth carries the original recessed label under glass inscribed with the wording "C.
