The pin is in the shape of a crescent moon, a popular motif for jewelry of this time period. Tiny baroque seed pearls in graduated sizes are alternately set with old mine cut cornflower blue natural sapphires in four-pronged heads, to stud the top of the pin. The center sapphire is 3 mm, and the other sapphires are about 2.4 mm (total weight about .25 ctw in sapphires). All of the seed pearls are original to the piece and have lustre, no damage. The pin measures 1 1/4" long. It is clearly hallmarked with the Hayden W. Wheeler signature, and 14K (see photo).
