Antique estate find from many years ago. The frame is finely handcarved in Arts and Crafts design in a floral/vine pattern found on all four front panels. The handcarved turn of the century corners also show an Arts and Crafts influence with the panels joining using a handcrafted pegged construction. T is no title for the old landscape photo within except that it is signed. I have taken a closeup pic of the signature. It appears to read F.S. Armbrister. T was a commercial photographer listed by that name who resided in Nassau in the Bahamas and whose photographic body of works are found spanning the early 1900's to the 1920's. The photo is a grandiose mountain scene with large lake. All appears to be in black and white except for foliage which is dark green. I cannot tell whether the green is handtinted over black and white or original to the image. The photo does have a small amount of a foggy appearance along sides and bottom w the image ghosts. The frame is very dark with age and difficult to read wood. The wood grain looks to me to be extinct american chestnut but could be something else, possibly oak (please see closeup pics of wood grain). The frame is heavy and in very good condition.
