For sale is this antique authentic working wooden snap cranberry scoop / rake with metal teeth / tines. It is made out of wood but has long metal teeth / tines which are held in place by a wooden strip with screws in the back. There is a canvas in the front of the scoop underneath the handle-this canvas is ripped but could easily be replaced if it needed to be. This cranberry snap scoop / rake is in very good & solid condition with the exception of the ripped canvas / oil cloth. Also it has a few nicks and scrapes and is weathered from age. There are the initials "M B S" carved into the back-probably the initials of the cranberry picker back in the day. I'm guessing it was made in the 1920s or 1940s. This particular type of scoop was used to harvest cranberries on fresh young vines because it was more gentle than the larger scoops. Like all cranberry scoops, it was used to pick DRY cranberries and not when the bog is flooded (as I've seen written so many times on eBay). It measures about 9 1/2" long x 9 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" deep & weighs about 2 pounds 0.6 ounces.
