This is a nickle-plated cast iron advertising still bank that dates back to the turn-of-the-century .The nickle plating is worn and other than that it is in great working order .The lock works fine and it has 2 keys . The inside coin-guard-flap is t and also works fine .This 4 1/2 inch high vault (or safe) was made for the J. B. BARNABY CO . (the most successful clothier in Rhode Island in the late 1800's) . I recieved this as a gift about 50 years ago .(oh oh......I'm dating myself) .This little gem is called THE J . B . BARNABY CO's BOYS SAVINGS BANK .The width is 3 5/8 inches and the depth is 3 1/4 inches .The weight is 2.6 lbs. Happy Bidding and Happy Savings The only way I can figure out how to get close-up pictures to you of the inside of the lock mechanism is to send them to your individual E-mail addresses .The lock plate on the inside of the door shows obvious file marks w both brass nuts attach the lock to the door .This would make me think that this is the original lock because as you tell me the lock was originally riveted to the door .Maybe the safe was open when I received it , but had no key. I think this would explain the removal of the rivets from the inside of the door . I'll tell ya , I've never looked at this baby so close . Thanks for listening !
