Here is an antique piece that probably goes back to the mid 1800's. It is a hoop driver that a barrel maker would have used. The iron parts I believe have been blacksmith forged. The tool measures 9 1/4" long. The iron part does come off the handle, I don't know if it is supposed to or not, but I don't think it would really make any difference. This came from Peoria, which was a river town in the 1800's where lots of whiskey was produced and thus lots of barrels. Here is a great antique piece of history for your collection. There is no reserve on this auction. Lucky bidder to prepay plus postage. Thanks for viewing.
