ANTIQUE BEADED PURSE SOUVENIR OF THE IROQUOIS INDIANS OF EASTERN US/CANADA This beautiful beaded Iroquois Indian purse dates 1923. IT HAS A PONY ON THE FRONT AN BACK an has a flower on both sides with beading all along the side edges and beads hanging on the bottom,the inside is in great condition,the SHOULDER STRAP is beaded light blue an is 16" long ,it is 5 1/4" wide 4" thick and 5 1/4" high without the hanging beads,the beads are 2 1/2" long,which is dated 1923,These were created in many shapes and sizes by the Iroquois women and sold to the tourist trade. Heavily beaded, often on rich velvets, This lovely little keepsakes was taken home as gifts from Niagra Falls and the surrounding areas. Overall condition of the beaded portion is excellent.The inside is good also don't think anyone ever used it was kept as a keep sake from a women in the county of Finch 25 miles from w i live,she bought it on t honyeymoon I bought it an Estate sale,last week,This is a lovely piece, and will make a beautiful addition to your Native American Collection
