Antique Black Forest Carving Antler Horn Letter Opener Stanhope Lac De Lamaix Alsace, FranceAntique Black Forest Carving Antler Horn Letter Opener Stanhope Lac De Lamaix Alsace, FranceTo auction comes this beautiful letter opener. The handle is antler, and the blade is horn. They are connected with a black Lacquered grommet, probably wood. It has a small hole in the antler (looks like a nail hole, see photos), which, when held to light, shows a slide. There is an image of a Priory in the upper half, and Lac de Lamaix (in Alsace, France) and the number 1237. It measures ~12" long. The blade is ~6" long by ~1 1/8" wide. The antler handle is ~5" long, and ~3 1/2" at its widest. This piece is in good used condition with age related wear.
