Antique Black Silk Shawl, Scarf, Spitalfields, Circa 1815, 19th Century Description Large Black Spitalfields silk shawl, early 19th century, circa 1815. Size: 32.75" x 108.5" / Spitalfields shawls are relatively hard to come by in general and especially on Ebay, although one sold not too long ago. I am selling the four Spitalfields shawl in my collection. This is the best in condition among the four Spitalfields shawl I'm selling. Along the center line at the two ends where the woven floral design appears, the silk seems to have bunched up/gathered slightly (pictures #7, 17). In picture #10, the shawl was photographed against the light to show a few very tiny holes near one end, otherwise not noticeable. The same area appears on picture #16. Pictures 14 & 15 show minor brown or light marks. Depending on the lighting and angle, if you look for them, there are slight discolorations/spots on the dark area, but otherwise are not really easily visible and obvious. All in all, the shawl is in very good to excellent condition for this type of textile. Colors are beautiful and vibrant. Payment: PAYPAL only .
