This is a very nice Country Primitive Pine Blanket Chest remaining in it's original Grain Painted surface . Gorgeous !! It is inscribed with it's owner's name " Maria Datz " ?? and " Nordt Loigd Bremen " ?? Although it is not dated , judging from the ironwork and irregular nails I will estimate that it was made circa 1820 . It is amazing that it has survived in such terrific condition after nearly 200 years ! There is a sliver of wood missing from the back as I have pointed out in the images that I posted and there are various mars & scratches throughout. It has come from rural New York State With several other antiques and primitive items. The Chest measures 38 inches long by 18 inches tall by 18 inches deep and weighs about 40 pounds . If you are the high bidder and would like to pick it up personally I will be happy to oblige . It is my goal to find the most economical means of shipping even if I have to go out of my way a bit to accomplish the task ( shipping via Greyhound Bus Service may be an option ) .
