Beautiful Old Coverlet Circa 1840-1880. This Piece was originally purchased a few months ago at an estate sale in Pennsylvania. The man that purchased it knew little about it other than the woman that sold it was the Great Granddaughter of the original owner and dated it to about that time. It then made its way to Jacksonville Florida where the new owner had it appraised by a local Estate Company. I purchased it at Auction and he introduced himself to me after the bidding was over. There are some spots on this piece that are frayed and there is a small stain that I have not tried to remove as of yet. The quilt was made in two pieces and then sewn together, I was told that this was a common practice from 1820-1860. The colors are very vibrant and I doubt if this piece has ever seen the sunlight! I am describing this as a quilt but please excuse my lack of knowledge. If anyone can provide a more accurate description I will update this listing accordingly. The frayed pieces could easily be repaired and the stain should come out quite easily. I was told to leave it as is and let the next owner do as they wish in the form of restoring this piece as any changes I make may affect the value. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
