Up for auction is a most beautiful Bohemian antique necklace chalk full of firery red garnets. The necklace from end to end measures 19 inches including the clasp. T are 28 small ornate clusters of garnets and each cluster holds 7 garnets for a total of 196 garnets. The next star shaped cluster size holds 19 garnets and t are two of these for a total of 38 garnets. The small grape style dangles hold either 4 garnets (2 of these for 8 garnets), 5 garnets (2 of these for 10 garnets ) and the center dangle holds 7 garnets. Some of the garnets are rose cut and some are what I call tear drop shape or a shape other than rose cut. The tear drop shape fill the outer points of center piece and the next two graduated size clusters. T are actually 3 different sizes of clusters and the center is the 4th. The center star shape garnet holds at least 48 to 50 garnets. The clasp also is set with garnets of which t are 11. It is a push clasp and attached is a safety chain. The garnets could be set in gold fill or an alloy called toback or garnet gold so I understand. I will also be listing a pair of Bohemian garnet earrings that match the smaller clusters of garnets on the necklace.
