Item description Antique Branford Lock Works cast bronze door lock set c.1880. Branford produced some of the best door hardware in the 1880's . This was a very popular pattern and it was produced in both cast iron and bronze. Although it is not one of the more difficult Branford patterns to find, locating an original set with all of the background enameling is rare. The pieces of this set retain nearly all of the original background enameling, which highlights the pattern beautifully. The set has a great design that is often refered to as a butterfly pattern, however, it's really a highly stylized vernacular flower motif. The reversible lock is in excellent mechanical condition. I have several more of these that are not listed, all in equally great condition. The set includes one reversible cast bronze faced mortise lock, two cast bronze knobs, two bronze door plates, a new solid brass strike plate and reconditioned knob spindle with new set screws. The set screw holes have been deburred so the screws turn in easily. I do not have a key that will work for this lock, but the internal components work as they should. This is a very nice functioning lock set ready to be installed. Dimensions are as follows. Backset 2 5/8", lock face plate is 5 11/16" x 7/8", the lock box is 3 5/8" tall x 3 7/16" deep x 1/2" thick. The door plates read more
