Antique brass balance scale for checking weight and size of sovereigns and half sovereigns measures approximately 9.7 cm (3&13/16 inches) long. Impressed crown on the top of the weight end and "SIMMONS" STAMPED ON TOP OF THE BALANCE ARM "SOVEREIGN WARRANTED" on the larger tray; and "SOVEREIGN 1/2" on the smaller tray. Both trays are shaped out for checking the coin diameter size and slotted for checking the coin thickness. The top of the base platform is marked: "SOVEREIGN", impressed Crown, and "WARRANTED".
