Buffalo Pottery (in Buffalo, New York) started making fine China in 1908. This plate is marked 1909. The first Buffalo products were semi-vitreous dinnerware sets. This serving dish is marked as semi-vitreous. Buffalo Pottery was the first American-based company to produce a line of Blue Willow ware, and their mastery of blue-printing china rivaled that of English factories, according to an online history of the company and its products. The serving dish is very good - the platter looks spotless. There are some very minor marks on the back, including some that look like they came from the firing process. They are blue and match the color of the plate.
