We take great delight in offering you this stunning antique sterling silver and Scottish carnelian striped agate gemstone brooch, which dates to circa 1880! The stone and the setting are both immaculate and flawless! I am exhausted from wrassling around with this piece all afternoon, trying to get a decent photo of its amazing swirled and swooshed line pattern, but am disappointed with the results, shown in the pictures below. The gem is so much more beautiful than i could capture on 'film'! ( I will keep trying and add a photo if i can manage it! ) It is a deep, rich, red-orange hue, with bands of lighter hue passing through its length, both vertically, on one end, then curving and swooshing at the other end! A truly magickal and blessed gift from Mother Nature! The brooch measures a large 2 1/8" long and 3/4" in width. The gently rounded ends make this rather resemble one of those vanilla Vienna lady fingers cookies! The gem is domed, and rises up about 1/8" - 3/16" from the back of the setting. Note the extended pin shaft... it protrudes about 1/4" from the edge of thew brooch. The back has the old 'c' clasp and hinged t-tube pin back... The brooch weighs a substantial 10.7 grams!
