Beautiful antique cabinet/commode/washstand from the late 1800's.Made of solid mahogany wood with three drawers and a lower cabinet with two doors. Cabinet is mounted on four wood wheels. The drawers have a visually unique style of drawer corners. This Pin & Cove style developed by Charles Knapp, was in use between 1870 and 1900. It was the first joint known to be made by machine. It is a very strong form a jointery but was only utilized for 30 years until being replaced by a machine that cut dovetails. Cabinet has a graduated front where the top drawers stick out further than the bottom. Drawer fronts and doors have carvings and beautiful brass hardware giving it that Eastlake/Gothic look. Cabinet could be used as a washstand, hall table or even a dresser. It measures 34" wide x 17" deep x 30" tall. The top two drawers are 12" x 11" x 1/4" x 3" tall. The large middle drawer is 25 3/4" x 11 5/8" x 3" deep. The bottom cabinet is 29" x 13" x 14 1/2" tall. Cabinet is in wonderful antique condition with age appropriate wear. There are no cracks or splits. There is finish wear on the top (scratches, worn, missing finish) Cabinet is solid and sturdy and in great condition considering the age.Please view description and photos carefully.
