Intriguing, brightly colored abstract modernist painting of a tropical garden. Looks to be hibiscus, with some kind of hut or structure in the left background. Monogrammed lower right but I can't make it out. I purchased this from a California antiques dealer some time ago, and this looks like early 20th century California work. It's quite the little jewel, although it good use a good professional cleaning. The frame measures 9" x almost 11" with the artwork window being approximately 1 /3-1/2" smaller than those dimensions. I feel certain that this fine work was painted by a a known, well-listed artist. It's just too good for it not to have been!
