Antique Cast Iron And Wood School Desk Up for auction is a well preserved Peabody and Stiggleman Co. cast iron and wood school desk from the early 1900's. The Peabody and Stiggleman School Furniture Company came into being in 1902 in North Manchester Indiana. The cast iron is in excellent condition and the wood desk bears evidence of being used. The desk top has all the original child, young adult art created while this desk was in use. Maybe you could find your initials t The desk is mechanically sound in every respect. As I said the cast iron is in excellent condition. T are no cracks or missing pieces. The under desk wood is complete also. It has a split near the back of the wood but is still available to hold books, paper, etc.. All the original wood is in place. The art work is clearly seen in the scans. This desk brought back some memories for me as I recalled my knife always seemed to be dull. The seat height is 30 1/2", width 24" and depth a little over 15". The desk top height is from 27 3/4' to 28 3/4" as it slants up a little. This is a sound piece of old school furniture and would certainly be a cool show piece or a nice collectors piece of Americana. Local pick ok. Thanks for looking and bidding if you should choose.
