Up for auction is this estate find antique cast iron fire starter oil pot with oil pumice stone dauber. The pot was filled with kerosene or lamp oil and the pumice stone at the end of the wand was dipped in the oil. The wand was then placed under the wood to light it. Bought from an estate of an antique collector were everything was very old. This could date back to the 1880's. The cast iron pot measures 6" tall to top of lid knob and 10" tall to top of handle. 20 1/2" in circumference around the pot x 6" wide from rim to rim. The pot has three feet. Three ornate raised lines around the pot. The inside looks look for being so old as shown in picture 3. The oil pumice stone dauber measures 11 1/2" long x 2 1/2" wide at the dauber part. The cover is all intact with the top knob. On the inside of the cover reads: "Cape Cod Shop" incised inside the outline of a fish. Then "Pat. Pend." also under that.
