Offered is a very nice antique Cast Iron Cauldron from an estate. This is the type of pot that would have been used on one of the early cast iron wood or coal stoves, or in a fireplace on a crane. It stands approx. 6" tall, the top measures 10" across. It has a wire bail handle and a loop ring to aid in tipping. The casting is clean and crisp and smooth, it was made by a quality US foundry. The bottom has a heat ring, it would sit nicely into the eye of any old cookstove. As you can see it has the original patina and seasoning, the outside has built up patina, the inside has some light scaling that could be cleaned if desired. This is a quality piece of well made cookware, I would not be surprised to learn that it was made by one of the important foundry's like Wagner, Griswold etc., it is a good old pot, hopefully someone can put it to good use!........................................
