Antique Cast Iron Wind Up Toy Locomotive This heavy cast iron locomotive was possibly made by Hafner manufacturing. Hafner helped start American Flyer but left the company and produced windup trains under his own name until the 1950's. This locomotive carries no markings, but the pressed steel, partially filled in wheels and low stacks seem to be distinctive to Hafner. 0 gauge. 7" long x 2" wide x 3" high. Black (japanned) paint is in very good condition retaining it's dull gloss. There is a little bit of chipping along the edge of the cab roof. The gilt parts have rubbed off some but are mostly still there. There is some rust on the steel undercarriage. The motor winds and runs very well though it is not strong enough anymore to pull its own considerable weight. Bell is intact and the ringer arm moves but makes no sound. A very nice little engine for the collector. Sold as is. Please look carefully at the pictures. Please e-mail with any questions. Shipping insurance policy: I generally do not insure something under $50 unless specifically requested by the buyer. I try to include the cost of insuring an item that goes between $50 and $200 in the stated price of shipping. Should an item go over $200, I ask that the winner wait to pay until I send an invoice reflecting the added cost of insurance. The USPS requires signature read more
