We have up for auction a very beautiful Victorian era photo album from 1880's Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It measures 10-1/2" by 9" by 3-1/2" and has a velvet back with a celluloid front cover. The front cover has a beautiful raised flower and wheat pattern in pastel colors. The edges of the pages are covered in what looks like gold. The inside pages are in excellent condition, almost like new. The book has 16 thick pages, which hold photographs on each side. T are a total of 47 pictures in all. T are 28 cabinet photos which measure 6-1/2" by 4-1/4", t are 15 smaller photographs which measure 4" by 2-1/2", and three matted photos in the back. I carefully removed a few of them to see who the photographers were. Among them was F.W. Streit, W. Wollensak, Miller Brothers, Hercher's Art Studio, L. Shienebeck, C.M. Hasse, and others. Most all of the photographers were from the Milwaukee area. A couple were from the Illinois area, and one was from Germany. I didn't look at all of them, but no family names could be found on them. Pretty much all of the pictures are in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or stains. Only one has what looks like a stain on it. The album is in very good condition for its' age. The blue velvet is a little worn around the corners. The Celluloid has no damage except for a couple small cracks near the lower right read more
