This is such a treasure, preserved throughout the many years - It is a hard cover of "DICKENS'S CHRISTMAS CAROL" and it is illustrated - published 1869- Ticknor and Fields- entered accordng to Act of Congress, in the year 1868, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Massachusetts. This was originally owned by the the "Weld" family of Cazenovia, New York who were very prominent in that era. The top and bottom of the corners on the outside are a little frayed and the inside pages are perfect - tissue is covered over every illustration. What I found is so fantastic, is the Weld family took clippings of every piece of newspaper articles that they could find - and it is from the same period, the clippings tell of so much history, like the opium den so graphically described by "D ickens" in "Edwin Drood" - his daughter telling of his deathbed experience - also articles on how he constructed a novel - and t is more and more to read from these wonderful clippings. I hope the winning bidder will enjoy all the pleasures of this historical item -
