The the main body of the ring was made of rosewood (the black part). On the surface of the rosewood it was pasted with a layer of bamboo coat. On the surface of the bamboo coat it was carved with a bird sitting on bamboo branches. The motif is called zhu bao ping an , which means "put a letter in a bamboo trunk to report peace and safty." Besides, bamboo has many knots which grow up and up one by one. It means one's career going up step by step. The carving was very skillful and freely. The condition is old but perfect. The craftmanship is very excellent.
