This is an authentic item brought back by family members. In our family were two generations of missionaries in China, from about the 1890s to 1929. I've tried to research these items to the best of my ability. I am no expert, so feel free to ask questions. This is a set of Chinese Civil Rank Badges, dating from Q'ing Dynasty and the 1800s. They appear to be a 3rd Rank, or a peacock. The sun is on the left side, signifying that this badge was worn by the wife of the official of this rank. The badges are covered in couching of metallic wrapped threads, sewn on with white threads. The bird is an attached part of the design. The badges are edged in a green patterned silk ribbon. The overall condition is good, with a few holes in which the blue silk backing show through. The blue silk backing is delicate along the edges of the full squares. These badges measure 10.5", or 26.5cm square. Shipping is $5 in the U.S. We do ship worldwide, please inquire for estimate. We accept paypal and money orders. We are listing other textile items from the Q'ing Dynasty, including additional badges. Thank you for looking and please e-mail with any questions.
