Civil War Sword M1860 Cavalry C. RobyThis is a original and fine Union cavalry trooper's curved M-1860 saber made by C. ROBY of West Chelmsford, Massachusetts. It is in very nice honest matured condition. All markings are clear and the brass hilt totally undamaged. The leather grip binding is still in place wrapped with brass wire. The saber comes complete with it's original all steel scabbard. Nice original steel scabbard not cleaned and retains its original two ring mounts.It is noted that General George A. Custer carried a Roby Enlistedman's Model 1860 Cavalry Sabre dated 1864 during his wartime service. A very fine example of a very well manufactured Roby Cavalry SabreThis is 100% original M-1860 U.S. Cavalry Saber from the Civil War clearly marked on the blade:C. ROBY, W. CHELMSFORD, MASS.On opposite side of the 35" curved blade it is markedU.S.1865A.G.M.Overall is 42". A.G.M are the government inspector's initials.
