Hi I am Steve Pfeiffer, author of the book Collecting Case Knives - Identification and Price Guide , published by Krause Publications. I have been collecting Case and other brands of antique pocket Knives since 1973. I am offering some fine collectible pocket knives for sale. This auction is for a very desirable antique "Cattle" pattern pocket knife. This is a very nice example of an antique knife made in the USA for the Clauss Shear company. This is an unusual CLAUSS knife. Clauss had knives made on contract by various firms, including Case, Schatt & Morgan, Queen, and others. This knife I believe was made by Camillus. It is the only Clauss knife that I have ever seen that was made by Camillus. It is also the only one that I have ever seen that has this particular tang stamping. CLAUSS SHEAR COMPANY FREMONT OHIO, circa 1920-1940, 3-5/8" closed length. Marked on the main blade and the spay blade. This is a very nice old and rare Clauss cattle knife in nice used condition. This knife was lightly sharpened and used. All blades have strong snap and are full with little to no blade loss. As the photos show the blades have light surface scratches and gray patina, and surface stains. The very tip of the main clip blade is blunted a bit but nothing missing.
