Antique Copeland Parian Bust of “The Veiled Bride” c1861. By Raphaelle Monti Fabulous iconic Copeland Parian bust of the “Veiled Bride” standing 15 inches high and 9.5 inches across the shoulders. The bride wears a floral headdress which is tied behind with a ribbon. Her veil drapes softly across her face. “The Bride” is very enigmatic; in different lights she appears to have different expressions, sometimes smiling sometimes not. Superb modelling with fantastic detail, the Parian of the highest Copeland quality. The base is impressed with Crystal Palace Art Union and the bust is impressed Copeland. The bust also signed in a cartouche R. Monti 1861. The condition is excellent having just a flat chip on the edge of her gown and a little wear at the top of the socle where it attaches to the bust. The bust is attached to the socle by the original nut and bolt. A similar bust can be seen in the Parian Phenomenon page180 fig.586, can also be seen in Robert Copeland’s Parian page 201 fig.B11. Rarely available this iconic superb bust displays very well. The bust is very heavy so overseas shipping will be expensive. Overseas buyers Pay pal only please.
