NOTE: Check out my other items ! * Presented for Auction: Antique 'Corona Special' #3 Portable folding Typewriter with carrying case & tool cleaning kit. Serial #s. * Corona No. 3 was an instant success when it debuted in 1912. Based on the Standard Folding Model of 1906, the No. 3 was refined in this even lighter and more compact machine made mostly from aluminum. The No. 3 has three banks of keys and a double carriage shift: one for capitals and the other for figures. Another unique feature in the typewriter's design is the machine's ability to "fold" in order to fit into the case -- that is, the carriage was hinged and could tuck forward over the keyboard and become more compact for storage. This variation of the Corona #3 model is the Corona Special manufactured by L.C. Smith Corona Typewriter Company. It features the etched golden accents. * This machine shows signs of wear from use consistent with it's age ( Some paint chipping on the typewriter itself and visible wear and tear to the carrying case ). The carrying case measures 12 1/4 inches x 9 3/4 inches x 5 inches closed. This machine has been tested and the results are as follows: T is a slight resistance of the carriage advancement at mid-margin, but carriage does advance to end margin and margin bell functions.
