This atlas offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of 1888. It has information in addition to maps that we would associate with an almanac -- maybe that's w they come by calling the atlas Unrivaled ! I believe that the cover is made of leather. The book measures 12" by 14" and is packed with 233 pages and over 4 pounds of world maps and facts. It was published by Henry S. Stebbins, Publisher of Chicago. (My grandfather proudly and with great size signed his name on the page opposite the title page and included the date of Jan 28, 1892.) In addition to maps the book includes Diagram of the Principal High Buildings of the Old World Flags of All Nations Arms of Various Nations The Solar System Population and Debt Statistics and Charts Diagram showing the comparative miles of railroad and telegraphs of the world Money Circulation Chronological Outline of American History from 986 to 1888 Interest and Postage rates maps showing historical periods and much more. The cover shows some wear, some of the pages have age spots, and as mentioned my grandfather penciled his name inside. For 120 years old, it is in markedly good condition.
