Here is a cap or lapel badge that would be ideal for the Penny Farthing (Ordinary bicycle) or Tricycle rider. In 1883 when the Bicycle Touring Club changed its name to the Cyclists' Touring Club this badge was used for just 3 or 4 years before changing again to the more familiar winged wheel badge. It measures around 3cms in height and is in very good condition and working order. On the reverse it states-WARRANTED BEST PLATE.------(presumably silver plate) See my other antique cycling club badges.
