Up for auction is an Antique Union Case for Daguerreotype and/or Ambrotype Photographs. It measures 3" in height X 2 1/2" in width X 3/4" in thickness. I know very little about these cases and photographs. The case is made of a hard plastic type of material. Inside the case, under the photograph, it is marked " Genuine Union Case, Improved, Fine Gilt and Burnish Hinges, S. Peck & Co. Manufactureres ". The case is in excellent condition with no damage. The snap shut mechanism works perfectly. The photo, however, is just that....an old photo marked Grandpa Woods on the back. It is on a piece of cardboard with a crease near the bottom and with a plain piece of glass on top. It is not a daguerreotype, ambrotype or tintype. Supersized pictures are also part of the description. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
